Upon finding more alternatives on ebay and Amazon, I came across this seller who, through a DM, told me that it shouldn't be a problem, but that he only supplied the headlight housing, and did not provide (at least in THAT transaction) the Ballast, Control Module and Wiring - which is exactly the situation I've found myself in before, namely with an E90 '06.īut as far as he was concerned, he told me that it SHOULD work, I'd just have to get the extra wiring harness, an extra ballast, and an extra control module, to make everything work. It kind of sounded like he knew as much as I did.which is not much. But told me that he would do more research and that he would check and send me a private email, letting me know. He told me that there IS no major difference in the fitting, or the wiring between the PRE LCI and the LCI. He was unsure of the whole thing, but saw no reason why I couldn't make this adjustment. The second time, I Actually grabbed one of the service specialists and walked over to the car, to have privacy, and explained the situation. The first time, they said it's a straight "no, you can't uprade", but it was a very straight forward dry answer, as if to say " buy it with the lights, and pay the extra, otherwise I can't help you." I've never seen it where the connection is not compatible between LCI and non-LCI.Ĭan anyone enlighten me on this, if there's any info I'm missing.Īnd if anyone has done this upgrade, can you let me know what my options are?Ĭlick to expand. You are correct. I've done light upgrades before, for PRE-LCI and LCI models, and have NEVER had an issue. At one time I heard that "the F30 LCI, that came with the Halogen Stock Headlights is NOT UPGRADEABLE at all, to any other light." So then, so far, I have not been able to find ANY replacement upgrades for my car. And surely enough, he told me that the lights he was selling were not compatible with LCI models. I even contacted a direct seller on ebay to ask him about this. I'm told that if I bought, for instance, the U-Bar lights, that, in the item page are for "F30 2012-2014", that they wouldn't "fit" my car. And as I'm looking around through ebay and Amazon, 99% of upgrades are for the pre-LCI.but I'm not exactly sure why this would matter.

I called the Dealership and was told that it's not "possible" to upgrade my lights for some strange reason. So now, obviously, I have been looking for an upgrade. So, I just bought a brand new F30 (2017), but it came with the dreaded Halogen Lights (albeit, with the "cool" tiny, led DRL.
